ChatGPT & Claude
Bring your kitchen into the assistant you already use.
Sagely speaks MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard for connecting AI assistants to apps. Connect ChatGPT or Claude once, and either can read your recipes, plan your week and manage your shopping list on your behalf.
How to connect
- In ChatGPT or Claude, find the option to add a connector or custom MCP connector (in ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors; in Claude, either claude.ai's Settings → Connectors, or Claude Desktop's developer/MCP settings). Exact wording moves around as both products update, so if this doesn't match what you see, look for “connectors” or “MCP” in settings. Adding a custom connector may need a paid ChatGPT or Claude plan, depending on their current rules.
- Enter this address as the connector URL:
https://sagely.kitchen/api/mcp - You'll be sent to sign in to Sagely (or you'll already be signed in) and shown a consent screen naming exactly what access you're approving. Approve it, and you're connected. There's no API key or password to copy anywhere.
What the connection can do
Once connected, your assistant can, on your behalf:
- search and read your recipes, favourites and collections;
- import a new recipe from a link, or create one from scratch, straight into your library;
- read and add to your meal plan;
- read, add to and check off items on your shopping list;
- scale a recipe, convert quantities, suggest a substitution, and log or rate a cook.
It only ever acts on your own Sagely account, under the same access rules as the rest of the app: it sees what you can see in Sagely (your own recipes, plus the recipes, meal plan and shopping list your household shares with you) and nothing else.
Which plan you need
Connecting is a Premium feature. A free-plan account can still sign up and explore the app, but the ChatGPT/Claude connection itself needs an active Premium subscription (or the 7-day trial, card required).
